So, I have currently applied to a number of organizations, and heard back partially. I sent resumes to Gizmodo, NextBus, imeem, Verical, Institutional Broker Deals, and the Association of Bay Area Governments.
I had an interview at Gizmodo. They were interested in me, and I was super excited about them. To work there is about the coolest thing I can imagine. I was a little worried about the phrase "small stipend", but hey, I am still working for GE, and how small could it be?
Insultingly small, as it turns out. Here is the difference between Engineering and Journalism: my do-nothing programming internship grossed $3500 per month, and Giz offered me $200 for a constantly-strange-hours-produce-or-die type thing. I told them I'd rather do a quarter of the work the position requires, but i'd do it for free. We shall see. On the other hand, the IBD gig is $125k/year, and the ABAG thing is 6-8k/mo. No word on salary from the remaining three.
Did also get a followup from NextBus, and these are the first two I applied to, so I would consider myself 2 for 2. They are going to interview me tomorrow. Wish me luck!
UPDATE: Had my interview with NextBus, nailed it.

Pleased to Meat You
I got my graduation meat package from my aunt and uncle...very generous. I received prime beefsteak patties, prime tri-tips, truffle butter, and a set of four laser-etched very nice steak knives, on which I immediately freeze-burned my finger.
The most instantly gratifying part, though, was the dry ice. What fun!

Let's Get Up To Date
The purpose of this post is to get you up to date on my current situation and circumstances.
Quickly:
So, I got in a car accident in my New Honda Fit (thanks everyone). My fault, rear-end. I decided to take a trip to Tahoe to visit Luis and Josh with Connor. I put my car in the shop after we got back, and I got a rental. After that point, we were living in Connor's Grandmas house, but Connor's uncle was moving in there and we went to live in his old place. We were there for awhile, and then our internet got cancelled. We were sad. After that, Connor began school and her two jobs (TA for Econ I and jewely assembling (dont ask me...)) and I stay at home doin stuff and still having my job at General Electric. We then moved into our new, totally sweet place.
Anyway, I bought a hybrid bike. Also, a receiver for my uber-sweet stereo system that sounds great even though its source is currently an ipod running low-quality mp3s over a 3.5mm->rca splitter. We also went to Ikea, duh. and I finally got my car back after like 2 weeks+ in the shop. I broke my bike but fixed it. I have been using the tools my dad gave me non-stop...especially the dremel and auto-driver (adjustable clutch for the win: ikea bedframe assembled in 13 minutes or less). We called ATT to sign up for uber-fast internet, but it is taking a long time...like until the 17th. I am currently getting some net by tethering my desktop to my phone's cell EVDOrA data net...very naughty.
Oh, and then I took another trip to SoCal for Caroline's birthday, and we brought another load of stuff up. I played my third round of golf and actually hit a fairway shot well.
Our landlords are quite strange, though seemingly harmless. They are ALWAYS in the house, save for the rare doctors appointment or Linux Users Group meeting. Abby is the owner of the house, and is also renting to Bill, who lives in a separate room from her. Bill works from home on parallel processing computation of X-ray diffraction experiments, and Abby does nothing. They seem to live upstairs in cramped quarters nestled in their respective objects, their faces imbued with an amphibian pallor reflecting their sedentary lifestyle.
More stories coming soon. This has been one of my (hopefully few) stream-of-consciousness-type posts.
